Art Journal Page: Vintage Christmas

blogHello! I just love love love the Christmas time! I can’t wait for everywhere to be lighted and beautifully decorated. So, I started creating my pages. cards, tags! This is the first one with a Vintage concept 🙂 You will find full list of supplies at the bottom of the post, and also in my YouTube channel. You can watch the video here if you want to see how I created it:

I started with my favourite technique to create a background. I chose an image from a Christmas stamp set and stamped it with Versamark ink covering the whole page. Then I used gold embossing powder to emboss. This beautiful gold will come through, when I use gelatos on the page, as emboss resists the gelatos. So, you can create beautiful backgrounds with this method. I only used one color of gelato: Red Cherry. it’s a nice red, a bit dark, so it goes perfectly with the vintage look I want to create. I blend with my fingers, using a wet wipe. You definitely need to prep the page with gesso first. Otherwise it’s very difficult to blend gelatos. I gave a border to my page with Distress ink, black soot. this will also bring the page together when I stamp my sentiment with black ink.

My focal point is a big Christmas tree. I found an interesting image on Silhouette Design Store and cut it with my Silhouette Portrait digital cutter. I find this method very easy sometimes. I find an image and cut it with my machine rather than a die cut, or stamp and cut. You will find the link below to the images I used. I can also adjust the size, which is amazing. So, it fits my page perfectly. Also to add a bit of interest, I decided to place the parts of tree with gaps. I colored them with Distress inks. Then I used some paper pads I found in my stash to create gift boxes to put under the tree. I even gave them some ribbons with metallic threads 🙂 I also found this paper that had circles, and I thought it looked like ornaments, so I cut them and sticked on the tree.

I had an idea of a flying Santa like a shadow over this scene as well. So again, I went to Silhouette store, found an image and cut it with my machine. I only colored it with black pant, because I wanted it to look like a silhouette far away.

I used two alphabet stamps to stamp this beautiful sentiment. Final touches, I did some gold drops with Nuvo glitter drops. I love these drops, they hold so well and they have amazing colors. I also used Glossy accents on the ornaments. After all, these details make all the difference. When someone opens your journal, they will enjoy finding these surprises and touching these details 🙂

Hope you enjoyed the page and got inspired. Please don’t forget to share, like or leave comments. That’s how I know you like my pages 🙂

You can find the full list of supplies here and see you next time!
