Hello! Again having festive season spirits, I wanted to create a really simple and elegant Christmas canvas. I like having my own decorations at home, so I can change when I get bored 🙂 Or, I like giving these as gifts to the loved ones. It always matters a lot when you give someone a handmade gift.
So, I created this canvas in the end to wish a good year ahead full of joy, love and peace.
If you want to see how I created it, the video is down below. You can also find the list of supplies at the bottom of this post together with links to the online stores you can find them. The list is also at the description area on my YouTube channel.
I wanted to have a layered look, so I used a canvas, and a chipboard. You can use whatever you have really, doesn’t matter. I worked on the chipboard first. I used my beloved Prima Alchemy paints. these are metallic paints, and they give a very nice shimmer. I love them! I used the one that gave this deep green color, reminding Christmas 🙂 It’s Emerald Green. I colored all the board. I went for a clean look, so I didn’t play with the background a lot. Then I moved to my focal point. I also adore this stamp set by Altenew, it has this beautiful Poinsettia in it. I stamped it with Versamark 3 times, because I wanted a dimensional flower. I embossed it with ZING glitter red embossing powder. This added some more shimmer on my flower. Then I colored it with Distress inks, and water. I wanted an uneven, watercolor look, so this is how I chose to color this time. I built the flower on top of each other with foam squares. This way, I had a really nice raised poinsettia. In the middle, I used Gold Stickles to give a gold shimmer. this is the time we can use all the Glitter we have 🙂
As my sentiment, I had my wishes from an Avery Elle die set. I embossed them with gold embossing powder and sticked them on my page. Under the flower, I used a glitter gold ribbon, and made a bow on top. THis added more interest and gift-like look. Lastly, I added some enamel dots in gold to bind the page together.
Next, I moved to the canvas. To make it harmonious, I used the same colors I used on the board. I made a border with Emerald Green, and inside I painted with Gold acrylic paint. I sticked my board on it with foam tape to make it raised. Lastly, I added these red glitter dots with Nuvo glitter drops, to bind it together with the red of the poinsettia.
I hope you like it and will try something similar to create some gifts for the season 🙂
