Hello! Welcome again. It’s been really fun to work on festive Christmas projects, but this time I wanted to have a little break from it 🙂 So, I created this random art journal page for a change. I really like the color combination and the quote. If you want to watch the process how I did the page, here is the video. As usual, you will find full list of supplies down below, or at the description area on my YuTube channel:
This time I started by covering the page with a tissue paper that has an elegant script background on it. So, I had an instant interest on my page. I did a quick gesso wash to push it to the background without covering it completely. Then I used Silks Acrylic Glaze to give color to my page. I love these paints. They are transparent, and has a very subtle shimmer to it. I used a combination and green and blue colors. Then I gave a border to my layout using a border stencil and again Silks acrylic glaze in Chestnut Brown color. This way I framed my page nicely.
Since I wanted this to be the sky, I put some birds and clouds. I put the clouds with texture paste and a stencil. The birds with heavy body acrylic paint and stencil. I wanted them to be more subtle.
As focal point, I imagined butterflies flying from one side to the other through the page. I printed these beautiful butterflies from internet. They already had this color and script on them. So it perfectly matched my page. I inked the edges of them with Vintage Photo distress ink. Then, I sticked them only in the middle, because I wanted the wings to be up in the air like they are flying 🙂
Only thing that’s left to do was the sentiment. I used two different alpha stamps to highlight the words I wanted to.
Last detail was to do some splashes to bring the page together. I used the same paint I used to do the border, and made some splashes on the page.
I hope you like it. If you do, please don’t forget to leave me a comment or subscribe to my channel or blog. That’s how I know you like my projects 🙂
See you next time!
